The Individual

All that flows through society begins with the individual. People, not systems or things, are the materials that make up a society. Whatever values, vision, energy, talent, and industriousness that the people possess and cultivate, will be the same that is contributed to the whole.

The totality of society, in reality, is the totality of its citizen’s happiness, capabilities, and freedoms. Therefore, personal responsibility, virtue, and faith must order the individual before the individual can order society.

Even the economy is dependent on the individual, for it is the labor and creativity of the people – supported by a wise government – that is the engine of economic growth, and not the other way around.

A free society can only be as strong, vibrant, and free as its people are strong, free and vibrant.

“Being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions.”
– John Locke
